Gifted and Talented

The Gifted and Talented program has been designed to insure that the intellectual abilities of each individual are challenged and used to their fullest extent, so that each student may realize their full potential for themselves and to society. At the same time, it attempts to minimize separation from the main body of students, so that each student's social and emotional development are not in any way thwarted.

Students will not only learn Common Core concepts, but will learn how to apply them to both concrete and abstract situations, analyze relationships, innovate, and evaluate. Whenever possible, student strengths and weaknesses will coincide with strategies included.

What is GT?

Per Nevada Revised Statute 388.440, a Gifted and talented pupil is a person under the age of 18 years who demonstrates such outstanding academic skills or aptitOwludes that he cannot progress effectively in a regular school program and therefore needs special instruction or special services.

In 1993, the US Department of Education defined Gifted students as children and youth with outstanding talent who perform or show the potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared with others of their age, experience, or environment.
